Dan has been with us since June of last year and has always brought a wonderful positive attitude to the group class. His work ethic, attitude, and determination are admirable – he’s always in class with a smile and is an incredibly hard worker with no ego attached. Between his family, working a busy schedule leading a helpdesk team, and all of his other life commitments, he still makes time to prioritize his health. For all of those reasons and more, he is our September Member of the Month – Congratulations!

When did you start CF?
What are your favorite numbers and why?
3. My birthday is March 3rd (3/3)
What CF movements do you like?
Rowing, Running, Rope climbs, Handstand pushups
What CF movements do you dislike?
Double Unders, Deadlifts
What sports or fitness things did you do before CF?
I was a rower in High school. I picked up running in the last couple years.
How did you find CF? What was your first workout?
I had been working out on my own and I was feeling like I was plateauing a bit and needed to find something to help me push. I work in the Ambler Yards Complex so I was lucky to end up very close to Kanna. I don’t remember my first workout
What’s your favorite thing about CF?
My favorite thing is that I know I will push way harder in a CF workout at Kanna then I would on my own. I joined CF because I felt like I was not making enough progress on my own.
What are your hobbies?
I love to brew beer, Jetski, bike, paddle board and most importantly anything that involves hanging out with my wife and son.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I drink way too much coffee 🙂
What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
A recent 2K row at 7:14 showed that I am approaching my high school PR.
What’s on your CF bucket list?
Get a Bar Muscle up and master double-unders
What’s on your general bucket list?
Go to Oktoberfest in Germany
What advice do you have for new (or experienced!) CrossFitters?
Don’t get caught up in trying to RX everything. Just focus on pushing your self and getting fitter without getting hurt.
Anything else you’d like to mention?
I really appreciate the environment and community at Kanna. Its the perfect atmosphere to push members to improve without any macho pressure or judgement. I have definitely seen great results from the time I have put in over the past year. I am looking forward to seeing what another year will bring.

How does one become Member of the Month? By embodying the values of CrossFit Kanna: Learning, Working Hard, and Having Fun. By contributing to the community and supporting others in and out of the workout. By being open to coaching and improving oneself for the sake of being better, not to “win” the workout. By just generally being a good person and having a positive attitude. And a lot more, but you get the idea!
